| BLACKHAT BLOG By Shamrock Jim Stacey Some of my first memories are of living in Germany where my father was stationed in the military. Because it was the late 70’s, there wasn’t a lot to watch on TV from the states. What we did have were lots and LOTS of old movies. Specifically my dad and I would watch the old western heroes. John Wayne, Audi Murphy, Gary Cooper and James Stewart were some of my favorites. One of the first things I learned about the older westerns was that you could always tell who the good guys were by the colors of their hats. Good guys wore white, the average Joe Schmoe wore brown and the villain wore black. The white hat always did the right thing, drank milk, and sang to his horse. He only kissed the girl at the end of the movie before he rode off into the sunset to bring more law and order to the west. He was usually depicted as above reproach in all things in his life. He was a good, if simplistic, example of a hero for his time. The bad guys were thieves and bandits and murders. They took what they wanted by force. They stood outside the law and spit on it. Most importantly to me was the really, really bad ones never did their own dirty work. They employed thugs and henchmen to do it for them while trying to look respectable in that sharp suit with the black hat on. I don’t know when but at some point in our society has changed. Things that used to be considered GOOD and RIGHT were made to be WRONG or BAD. Rape a woman, that’s bad. Kill a Rapist, that’s good. Long prison sentences were good, letting a prisoner walk the streets was bad. If you were a church going bible believing man of honor and integrity you used to be considered a hero. Now, if you go to church you are considered an out of touch, unintelligent, racist, homophobe scumbag. Cops and soldiers get spit on in the streets every day. Preachers get protested when they try to lay down a moral code of conduct on their congregations. The good and pure men of today’s society are considered the bad guys. DO YOU HEAR ME? WE BECAME THE BADGUYS! We didn’t change. The rules seemed to change around us completely beyond our control. Well, you know what? I’m PROUD to be a black hat by today’s standards. I’ve served this country, protected women and children from the bad things out there that would do them harm and I’ve tried to live a moral and just life. Yes, I am Pro-life, because I have five wonderful nieces that I have been blessed to see grow up. YES, I’m PRO-Second Amendment because I have on more than one occasion both in and out of uniform drawn a gun to defend those who trusted me to protect them from harm. YES, I’m proud to say I’m a child of the living GOD and that I was saved by the sacrifice of a man named JESUS CHRIST. If these things make me a bad guy in your eyes well then I wear them proudly. So, go right ahead and stare at that black hat with the cross headband and the leather duster and KNOW what they stand for. They mean I’m going to do what I think is right if you like it or not. That’s right liberals, there’s a new verbal gunslinger in town. His name is Shamrock Jim. Meet me on the street at high noon. SHAMROCK JIM |
